uCampaign’s CEO talks to Digital Politics Podcast: How Robust Mobile Apps Are Changing Politics and Advocacy

Did you miss uCampaign’s CEO and Founder, Thomas Peters on Digital Politics with host Karen Jagoda? They discussed how robust mobile apps are changing politics and advocacy!

You can listen to the full interview here.

“Thomas Peters, CEO and Founder, uCampaign sees the future and it is mobile apps for political and advocacy campaigns.  While websites are still a basic necessity for campaigns, mobile apps can provide canvassing and lobbying tools that engage voters, reward them for sharing content, and allow targeting specific audiences by geographic location at the right time and on the right screen.”

How Two Advocacy Groups Used Urgency to Generate More App Actions

So now you have a uCampaign-powered app… great! Your app can serve as an essential tool in your arsenal to get your message out and build up a community of supporters who believe in your cause.

But now what? It’s time to get your supporters to download and engage with your app!

When preparing a plan to market your app to your supporters, the best question to ask yourself is: “What is the urgent reason my supporters will want to download this app?”

If you create urgency, your supporters will take notice and stay engaged with your message or cause.

Here are two recent examples of our clients using urgency to generate action:

1. NRA: Over 3,500 phone calls to the Senate to confirm Supreme Court Justice Nominee Neil Gorsuch.

Administration of the Constitutional Oath

The National Rifle Association campaigned on behalf of Donald Trump after he pledged to nominate pro-second amendment supreme court justices. When President Trump nominated Neil Gorsuch, the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action used their uCampaign-powered app to ask supporters to call their Senators and ask them to confirm Gorsuch. Within a matter of weeks, NRA supporters made over 3,500 phone calls to the Senate using the app. The app would check the supporter’s state and then connect the supporter directly with the correct senate offices.

2. Great America PAC: Over 6,000 peer-to-peer messages inviting their friends to call the senate and support all of the President’s nominees.

During the Spring 2017 senate confirmation hearings, Great America PAC urged their supporters on their uCampaign-powered app to invite their friends to call the senate to urge them to support all of Trump’s nominees. They generated over 6,000 peer-to-peer texts and emails giving their friends a link to download the app and call the senate!

Remember, apps do best when they provide your supporters a real opportunity to make a difference. This is one of the secrets to great app engagement!

So what is your urgent reason for your supporters to download your uCampaign-powered app?

Act now! 🙂

uCampaign Launches Official App of Major Advocacy Group

Screen Shot 2017-11-02 at 3.11.01 PM

We want to welcome our newest partner, Susan B. Anthony List to our growing app family! The “Life Impact” app connects supporters of the pro-life movement and provides them with a place to not only interact with each other but with their elected officials as well. You can download their app from the App Store or Google Play.

Speaking of interacting with your elected officials … Our apps are now integrated with Google Civic API! In the next version of all uCampaign-powered apps, you will be able to connect your supporters in more ways with their elected officials. Don’t worry about adding that new member of Congress or awaiting the results of a recount, the API will update automatically when there are retirements, special elections and other changeovers.

Contact us if you are interested in extending this feature to state and local officials. We aim to bring this full functionality to all clients by Q1 2018!

App Community: Members Band Together To Help Fellow App-tivist

UCblog 10.24

Apps can become so much more than just social platforms to help spread your brand or message; they can become real communities. For instance, NRA-ILA is one of our largest uCampaign-powered apps. When one of its top members experienced the tragic loss of their sister after a battle with cancer, other members of the app community banded together and formed a GoFundMe page to help pay for the funeral and related costs.

To date, they’ve raised over $2,000.

uCampaign builds apps, its members build communities.

Our thoughts are with this member and the family.
